A technical and bulky pack that can hold a large amount of gear from trekking poles, rope, ice axes and skis. The ability to get down to 780 grams of weight will be appreciated by anyone who cares about light weight and doesn't want to lose important functional elements. The innovative SWISSWOOL-TEC-KNIT back system is very comfortable and only the ORTOVOX PEAK LIGHT models have it. You open the backpack on the front with the double-sided perimeter zipper and get inside it like a suitcase. The light interior makes it easy to find everything you need.
BACK IN DRY
One of the highlights of the ORTOVOX PEAK LIGHT 40 is the SWISSWOOL-TEC-KNIT back system, which combines premium materials and the latest technology. The back system consists of a removable duralumin construction, technical foam and three zones of compressed wool - at the point of most frequent contact with the back. The wool absorbs 29 times more sweat than conventional foam backs and doesn't get cold like other materials. The entire back of the backpack is covered with 3D knitted material. Physiotherapists also worked with the ORTOVOX developers on this back system.
EVEN WEIGHT DISTRIBUTION
Weight distribution is taken care of by the padded wide waist belt and shoulder straps, which are cushioned on the inside so they don't press on your neck. The shoulder straps are ergonomically adapted to the human figure. These straps can be tightened not only from the bottom, but also from the top and the backpack will better adapt to your figure. The waist belt is connected directly to the back system and smoothly transitions and hugs the body. You feel no joints and enjoy comfortable walking or climbing all day long.
Equipment attachment system
Attach all the necessary equipment for alpine hiking, mountaineering and ski mountaineering to the ORTOVOX PEAK LIGHT 40 backpack. Each piece of equipment has its own place, is attached securely and is quick and easy to put on and take off.
Skis (A-Skifix)
rope
two ice axes
poles
helmet
carabiners
axe in standby position (loop on shoulder strap)
Comfortable access to the contents of the backpack
The main compartment of the backpack can be accessed via two entrances. The first option is to unzip the entire front of the pack using the two-way perimeter zipper, similar to a suitcase. The second option is through the collar in the top lid of the backpack with the SIMPLY & FAST drawstring. The collar is pulled down by pulling the drawstring. The entrance is only released when you also pull the plastic buckle to release the system lock.
Sophisticated pocket system
The backpack has several practical pockets. Each chamber and pocket has its own purpose and allows you to keep things handy whenever you need them.
A compartment inside the main chamber offers attachment for avalanche equipment - shovels and probes.
The main chamber has an elastic strap for attaching a water bottle or reservoir and a buckle to secure it - plus the ability to bring out the tubing in the center of the pack between the shoulder straps.
Front zippered pocket - for map, topo and buzzer.
Outside lid pocket for stowing active accessories - hat, gloves, scarf, etc.
In the outer lid pocket there is also a plastic carabiner for keys.
Inner lid pocket for storing small equipment - headlamp, knife, documents, cash and valuables.
The pocket on the waist belt is suitable for mobile phone, camera, GPS.
Sturdy workmanship
The backpack uses extremely lightweight, durable and high quality Nylon 420D Oxford fabric. The use of two different technical fibres makes this material exceptionally robust and abrasion resistant. Nylon is also one of the lightest materials used in ORTOVOX backpacks. The PU coating on the inside gives the backpack the necessary water resistance, which is further enhanced by the DWR treatment on the outside.
Lightweighting the backpack up to 780 g
The weight of the backpack with all functional features is 1200 g, but you can lighten it up to 780 g. You do this with the removable padded hip belt and removable duralumin back structure. The final step to lighten the pack is to remove the lid.
Practical functional features also keep your safety in mind
The backpack also includes additional straps and a helmet net. The height-adjustable chest strap has a whistle for emergency signalling. The lid of the backpack has a sewn-in pocket with an EMERGENCY CARD - a card with personal and medical information. The waist belt also has a loop for climbing material, and you can hang your axe by the shoulder strap, where there is an integrated loop to keep it close at hand.
The innovative triangular lid design allows you to securely and reliably attach a rope to the pack. This lid can also be easily removed and stored in the main compartment of the pack, where you can still easily access it via the handy zipper. The pocket in the lid is divided into two parts. Thanks to taped seams, the lid is also fully waterproof. After removing the lid, the backpack can be attached to a rope thanks to two strength loops and pulled comfortably through the wall.
Back size "regular"
The backpack has been adapted for people with a medium back length of 42-50 cm - for a figure of approximately 170 to 195 cm. The length is calculated from the 7th cervical vertebrae to the top of the pelvis. The backpack is not only modified in the length of the back, but also in the shape of the shoulder straps and the adjustment of the waist belt. This gives the backpack an ideal fit and a firmer hold on the back.
