If you have never tried a multi-day hike, ideally a multi-week one, definitely give it a try. It's worth it. While you will give your body a lot of work, it is also a complete and high-quality reboot of the head. After a few days, you no longer know whether it's a weekday or a weekend, and you don't really care anymore. And that's the point. To escape, at least for a while, from the usual daily noise and stress. We tried it for ourselves and it was an unforgettable experience. And the fact that you will cross almost your entire homeland on this route and get to know many of its secrets and beauties is just an added bonus. And the cherry on top of a delicious cake called the SNP Heroes' Path.

Our wooden map shows the entire route of the Slovakia's "Cesta Hrdinov SNP" from Dukla to Devín, with all the essential points through which it passes. It consists of two layers. The first is the entire area of Slovakia, and the second consists of individual, color-coded regions. The route of the longest Slovak hiking trail is made of a separate piece of wood, stained in the color that accompanies every visitor along the way - red.

It is possible to purchase a separate commemorative plauqe with the wooden map, which is unique for each map, because we will adjust it for you according to your wishes. It can contain a dedication, name, dates of the hike, etc. By default, the total length of the route, elevation, logo and name are engraved on it.

An optional accessory to the map is also a wooden board with markers that you can stick on the map as your stops/overnights or other places you want to highlight. We can also make them with your initials on request.

The map can be hung (at the back there is a metal comb for hanging) or stuck on construction glue such as Mammut or Pattex. Sticking on the double-sided adhesive tape that is part of the package is also an option. However, we also recommend combining it with glue, because some types of paint or plaster can dry out the tape over time and it can fall off the wall.

About the SNP road

Heroes route SNP is the most important tourist trail in Slovakia. It extends from the northeast of the country (Dukliansky pass) to the west to Devín.

From Bradl (Štefánik's mound) it goes parallel to Biely kríz and as Štefánik's highway. The path of the SNP heroes passes through most of the important areas of Slovakia, which played an important role during the Slovak National Uprising, or during the liberation of the country in the years 1944 to 1945.

This entire highway is marked with red tourist signs. In Slovakia, most of the route is identical to the international tourist route E 8 (except for the sections Trenčín-Veľká Javorina and Mlynská dolina-Devín), the total length varies and, according to the sources, varies between 750-770 km. In total, the European long-distance route E 8 measures 4,390 km. The SNP Heroes' Route route was named in 1956. Its course copied the older Štefánik route from 1928 from Devín to the Dobšinsk Ice Cave, and the route continued towards Košice, Prešov, Bardejov, Svidník na Dukla along its route. Later, in several places, the route changed to a total length of 769 km - e.g. White Rock, Žiar Mountains, Kremnické Hills. The Slovak Tourist Club offers an up-to-date TTO - tourist recorder with maps along this route.

Course of the route

From the landscape point of view, it is very diverse, which results from its length, as well as the fact that it does not only pass through mountains, but also goes into inhabited basins and local settlements in certain sections. Overall, however, the route mainly passes through mountains and also copies mountain ridges. The tourist route leads through important mountain ranges such as Čergov, Volovské vrchy, Nízke Tatry, Veľká Fatra, Žiar, Strážovské vrchy, Biele Karpaty, Malé Karpaty and passes through some cities such as Bardejov, Trenčín, Stará Turá or Bratislava, bypassing cities such as Prešov or Košice. Due to the course mainly through mountains, the Cesta hrdinov SNP is a difficult passage and the route can be completed in an average of 26 to 28 days. It is possible to get a better time, but it is necessary to walk more than 30 km a day, which requires prior preparation when walking with a heavy backpack.

All map variations feature a precision laser-cut and hand-glued wood panels for an outstanding quality experience. Region borders, roads, names and cities are nicely engraved (where space permits). Regions are stained to 4 different colours with natural wood stains.

Map Installation

Wooden country maps come in one piece (editions larger than approx. 100 cm consist of one or more pieces). Glue (like a construction adhesive), strong double-sided adhesive tape (included in the package) or other mounting solution (like framing mounts, screws, etc.) can be used to install the map on a wall. Different surfaces might require different mounting solutions.
